This piece has been waiting patiently for some attention! An Aubrey Beardsley inspired scene of a fairy priestess with her falcon in the wood, done in verre églomisé. The finished piece should be a stunner!!

The journey through branches, birds, buds, leaves, and lemons comes to a satisfying close. These Verre églomisé panels were loads of fun to create, and we feel they have captured all the whimsy and grace we envisioned for them. A triumph! Stay tuned for installation images— the real triumph will be seen when they are installed as the standout feature of a jewel box powder room!

Thank you to all who followed along to see these panels come to fruition (pun intended)!

Here we are at the final touches— after leaves, lemons, and blossoms, the fluttering winged creatures finally get their colors. The whimsy! The magic! Once these panels are installed, it will feel like you’re Alice entering the gardens of Wonderland!

Honorable mention to J’s magnificent yogic stances while working at Winston the rotisserie easel 👏😂

In the works… 👀🍋 Stay tuned to see how gorgeous the color will be in these De Gournay-style églomisé panels!

Check out J’s power stance… it’s very important to the quality of the work.

One of our smallest pieces of Verre églomisé done to date! A detailed monogram that is to be part of a larger matrix of panels in an internal leaded glass window that will feature in a wine cellar. The microscopic detail certainly challenged us, but we feel it came out beautifully!

We love full circle moments! Very few things are more satisfying than seeing a piece you’ve worked hard on bring together the space it was designed for. This antiqued Portuguese-style faux tile mural on crackled gesso was an honor to complete for this gorgeous indoor/outdoor pool space. Thank you @peggyjaneappleton and @platnerstudio for always being a joy to work with!

Some jobs allow you to comfortably sit in your experience and skill to create something that feels familiar and safe—those jobs are beautiful. This was not one of those jobs. From formulating a new antiqued bronze glass finish to experimenting with reverse glass abalone inlay to growing our capacity to ground another’s inspiration into reality, this piece of Verre églomisé stretched JMD beyond our artistic limits into new and exciting creative territory. And the results are stunning! Stay tuned to see this piece installed in the space it was designed for!

Never stop challenging yourself as an artist; always rise to meet your creative visions. It’s worth the effort! As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “nothing in this world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, and difficulty.” Of course we had fun on this piece, too, but the challenge is what made this accomplishment special to JMD.

This commercial office space underwent a stunning renovation to which we contributed our work: antiqued charcoal glazes over crackled gesso, smoky gunmetal silver details, classical decoration. Doors, cabinets, baseboard and crown molding, light fixtures, interior, exterior, the whole shebang. We are honored to have our voice sprinkled throughout this beautiful building.
